Sculpture International Rotterdam (SIR) manages the city’s international collection of public art works and develops art projects, thereby supporting Rotterdam in the achievement of its international and cultural objectives.
Rotterdam’s art in public space policy is based on two main perspectives. SIR is responsible for Rotterdam’s international metropolitan policy, and also manages its collection of international sculptures, situated on the so-called ‘main axes’ of the city. The ‘Fine Arts & Public Space’ program (BKOR) of the Center for Visual Arts (CBK) Rotterdam develops art works for neighbourhoods based on resident participation and local initiative.
Together, SIR and BKOR continue to develop projects to further promote Rotterdam’s collection of art works in public space.
SIR is a program of the Rotterdam Centre for Visual Art (CBK Rotterdam).
