No city in the Netherlands has as many works of art on the streets as Rotterdam. The city’s collection began in 1622 with the realization of the statue of Erasmus. In 2023, Moments Contained by Thomas J Price was added to the collection. This route along 30 works of art takes you from North to South, along Westersingel, across the Maas, and finally to Wilhelminapier. Short descriptions in Dutch and English offer a wealth of information.
To increase the accessibility of the art route, we collaborated with Oren en Ogen Tekort, a foundation that makes art more accessible to people with visual or hearing impairments. The walking map features a QR code that allows image descriptions to be listened to. Oren en Ogen Tekort developed this pilot for the visually impaired, called Beeld in Geluid, for The Hague and Rotterdam. Beeld in Geluid in Rotterdam was made possible by the City of Rotterdam – Rotterdam Unlimited.
